The second type of these historical themed online games is probably the most popular one out there, that being, video games that are aimed towards an older audience, but aren’t necessarily 18+. Some of these video games aren’t completely based on a biblical theme, but do have certain ancient and historical themes and references that might be considered biblically-related. A couple of very well-known examples of these kind of video games include the 2006 adaptation of the evangelical Christian “Left Behind” series of novels called “Left Behind: Eternal Forces”, which was developed and published by Inspired Media Entertainment for Microsoft Windows and features an online multiplayer mode, in which up to eight players can compete online against each other in teams, with one team playing as the Tribulation Force and the other playing as the Global Community Peacekeepers. Another example is 2010’s “Dante’s Inferno”, developed by Visceral Games and published by Electronic Arts, it was released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. The game follows Dante, imagined as a Templar knight from the Crusade, who, guided by the spirit of the poet Virgil, needs to fight through the nine Circles of Hell to rescue Beatrice from the clutches of Lucifer himself, and is loosely based on Inferno, the first canticle of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy.
The third and last type of biblical-themed video games might come as a surprise for some to know, that there is a variety of online casino slots games out there developed by casino game software firms that are based on biblical histories and characters.
