Traditionally the game of blackjack is played in casinos where you are up against the dealer rather than playing against the other players. When you are playing and it is your turn to either stick with the card you have or get another card, choosing to get another card is called a hit. That is why you would say to the dealer, “hit me”. If you choose to keep the hands that you have been given and not receive any additional card then you choose to stand. Splitting happens if you receive two cards with the same rank and you can split those two cards and start playing with two hands. Doubling down means that you place an additional bet and you agree to only receive one more card total while you play that round. If you decide to give up your bet and no longer play that is called surrendering. It is the same as folding in poker.
